Agriculture minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan holds review meeting
New Delhi: Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan held a review meeting Monday with senior Agriculture Ministry officials to discuss key agricultural issues. The meeting focused on crop production, marketing, imports and exports, and weather conditions, a PIB release stated.
Chouhan stressed the importance of regular communication with state governments to effectively address farmers’ concerns. He said he would hold weekly meetings on agricultural matters and periodically convene with state agriculture ministers. The minister urged officials to maintain active engagement with state counterparts.
Discussions will encompass a wide range of issues, including fair pricing for agricultural produce, addressing farmer distress, sowing schedules, marketing strategies, import and export regulations, and weather updates.
The ministry’s Trade Division will conduct a weekly analysis comparing the need for lentil and oilseed imports with domestic production and consumption patterns. A similar analysis will be carried out for exports, focusing on commodities like chana, arhar, and masoor.
